.Hello I have the motherboard listed in subject. It worked when I first hooked it up and then the next morning it didn't. It gave me an A2 error (IDE detect) it recognizes the hdd and its free space but will not boot from it. It just displays the asrock page and restarts.

Steps I have tried:
Reset CMOS
Different sata cords.
Different sata ports.
Changed BIOS storage settings.

Nothing worked.

It would also be food to note that the ODD works and boots but the hdd won't boot. And it isn't the hard drive it does work and is not corrupted

Solution
did not mean to say this is the issue but once windows is tied to a computer most times you have to reinstall it on the new computer and call Microsoft to reactivated it ... but I never had it work to start with as you said, it just loads to the windows screen and loops never going to desk top... and oem windows is one time use and cant be transferred .... but I see and hear folks here at toms saying that it can and so on but I never could only with retail and I still had to do a fresh install on it . the license for 8 is worded different then the older windows so I cant be much help on that part it now may let you[???] but as with my oem copies of xp vista and 7 if I try to reuse it on a new computer as soon as it hits Microsoft...

Reset the boot priority and remove any external memory or card.
Also try removing your GPU and then try Booting up.
Try removing the battery for a while! Sometimes it helps!
.
Did you installed a new hardware or software recently?

Its not a new hdd its from my old system. But when I first hooked up this motherboard it worked on uefi defaults. So it works on ahci. But I have tried on both settings and it doesn't work.

I also tried to reuse harddrives and in the end just wished I got a new drive and a fresh copy of windows and just used the old drive as storage[opinion] though this may still not be your issue but I thought I 'd put it out there ...

It might be the problem. Cuz I can boot from CD drive. So it cant be a mobo problem. And win disk check says the hdd is not corrupt. So I will install win 7 when I get home and try it out

booting from the cd is a nonissue .... but booting windows on a harddrive that's been tied to a computer that's not the computer its on now is a issue. see when windows try's to load it runs a check and sees that this is not the computer it started with and goes into a boot loop cause things anit adding up in it and it just fails to load

You are the man junkeymonkey. Thats all it was. Just needed a fresh install of windows to work. It has worked without for me before but that was from AMD to AMD. Im guessing the problem was that because I went from AMD to Intel there must have been a driver confliction or something.
