I am a professional photographer working with Lightroom and dealing with thousands of images a month. I want a faster hard drive then my western digital dual raid drives and heard that ssd is the way to go. What make/model do I use and cost?

Samsung 840 EVO, in whatever size your budget allows. Probably the 250GB at $130.

I do a lot of photography (not as much as you, though) and the SSD is quite nice.
Possibly consider two, but NOT in RAID. 1 containing the OS and applications, and the other as the initial save drive. After the image is processed, etc, then move it off to a traditional HDD.

And SSD, even individually, are faster than HDD's in a RAID 0.
