Hello a couple days ago I built my new pc. I got the 4790k and maximus hero 7. I left my old pc to my little brother and so I installed my copy of windows 8.1 on my Samsung 840 EVO and booted to desktop and I don't have network adapter drivers. I reinstalled windows and still no internet.. is it because I have to activate my copy of windows or could my Ethernet port be defective..

Yes and my Ethernet cord is plugged in but still no internet. Windows says that I'm missing the network adapter drivers. I went to my device manager and network adapter isn't there. It was supposed to be included in the operating system. I did not have this issue with my other computer..

Try installing the drivers from your motherboard's product website. You can download on a different PC and transfer it using a USB thumbdrive
