right now I'm using a powersupply that came with my case till I can get my 650w back from my friend. I've been having alot of FPS issues with my radeon HD5670 1gb DDR5 and I want to upgrade, but I'm afraid that my PSU won't run it. My current setup is this:

FX 6300 @ 4.3ghz 1.43v
WD 1tb black 7200 rpm hdd
Radeon HD5670 1gb ddr5
2x 4gb G.Skill ripjaw 1333 ram @ stock
no DVD drive atm
Coolermaster aftermarket heatsink w/fan, can't remember the model, but it keeps my 6300 at around 50c at full load on prime

my PSU's stats on the side are:
+3.3V@20A, +5V@20A, +12V1@20A, +12V2@20A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2.5A
it has two 6pin connectors, and one of the connectors has a converter for 8pin. Do you guys think I'll be able to run a 7850 with this PSU for a few months till I get my regular one back or I can afford a better one?

It should, unless your psu is a crappy raidmax or similar which often dont even provide half their rated power. Do you know exact model, sir?

I couldn't find much info on it tbh. the model on the side is PS-450wx1n which is apparantly athenatech or something like that.

I think you are ok.
A 7850 needs only one 6 pin connector.

Quite bad psu model, personally I would hesitate. Not because of its rated power, more beacuse of a fear that it will just... burn and take something with it, due to its horrible components. Your call.

Take a look at this list, it is tier five:

EDIT: unless it is the space shuttle series, which is tier three, and you should be ok with that one,

The main reason I was asking was because the PSU that came with my cast is different from the one I see online. mine is black, and seems to be pretty heavy, and the wires are all in mesh sleeves, seems like the build quality is better than the ones for sale. I had already ordered my 7850 and then it dawned on me that I wasn't using my 650w psu, and by then it had already shipped. I'm not opposed to removing the overclock on my CPU, as it preforms quite well at stock, and I was just trying to make up for my current crappy GPU.

Edit: Just looked again on my PSU and it says power on it with a symbol. it seems that the PSU I'm using is athena power, not athena tech.

A Radeon HD 7850 needs 21 amps on the 12v rail and a 500 watt power supply , and 1 PCIE power connection.

If those specs are correct , you can easily run a 7850.

Thanks everyone, that takes a huge load off my mind. I'll probabaly still remove all my overclocks just to be on the safe side till I can get a better PSU though.

Good plan.

If you hear the psu fan spinning up and getting loud, you could be overloading it..
Shut down then to avoid any failure.

Athena power or Athena Tech = poor quality.
