I tried overclocking my Samsung S27C500 to 70hz, and it worked at first. Everything was stable until I turned off my PC and left for a little bit, and when I came back and tried to turn it back on the screen is black. Currently I run a dual monitor set up, the second display being an old tiny TV that I found in my house. I use HDMI for both (HDMI to Display port adapter for the samsung display as my gpu only has one HDMI port and my monitor has no display port) I see the ASUS logo and the Windows logo spin once (SSDs FTW) and then it is just black at the part where I should be logging in. I tried pressing space and typing my pass as if it were working but it remains black. I am not sure how much my specs matter but I will put them just in case

Intel Core i7 3770k
2 ASUS GTX 760s in SLI
ASUS P8Z77-V Motherboard
8GB of G.Skill Sniper RAM
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD
WD 2.5 inch 1TB HDD'
EVGA Supernova 750b PSU
Windows 8.1 Pro

Start into save mode, uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver:

How can I go into safe mode if I can't see anything?

You said, you see the Windows Logo spin. Save mode happens before that!?

I figured it out, it was simple really. I just used the beat up old TV as my main display and re installed my drivers. But I lost a few desktop icons...I think they are in the planes of oblivion

Better run an error check on your harddrive before all your data is gone!
