I am using DBAN to wipe a 1TB Hard drive and so far its at 90.38% ( round 1 of 1 , pass 3 of 3) and its been 37 hours, the remaining time is 4000+ hours blanking at 27000 B/s. the load average is 1.00 1.01 1.05, its also detected 43 error. can anyone tell me why it takes this long?

Solution
The errors are the reason. The drive is faulty which slows down the write process of DBAN very substantially. If you intend to re-use the drive or pass it on, I wouldn't bother. Just take it outside on some concrete, don some safety goggles, then drop it a few times from as high as possible, plus take a hammer to it, then destroy the connectors by levering with a screwdriver. Nobody will ever read it after that.
