Hello guys i just built my computer after getting a rma processor and motherboard and upon turning it on the processor temp read 95 degrees and rising in the bios. and i immediately shut down. any ideas?

If you used the whole tube or most of it, then you used too much. If you have after market such as Arctic Silver 5, then use some 70% isopropyl alcohol to first clean off the old stuff ( use a lint free rag ). When you apply the fresh stuff just use enough about the size of half of a piece of long grained rice or a small pea. Put it in the center of the CPU and you don'y have to spread it, just put the cooler ( heatsink and fan ) back on and make sure the tension is even on all four corners. I used the paste that came with the stock intel fan... do you really think thats it?

hmmm i had a little problem with the fan i have after market greese do you think i should redo it?

Thank you all for your help. it ended up they sent me a refurbished motherboard where someone left a bracket for watercooling.... i took it off and reinstalled the fan my idle temps are now about 38 thank you again all.
