Hey everyone,

So I want to build a mini itx pc w/ a budget of $800 (CAD) including all taxes and shipping.
A friend of mine, gave me her 7850 and unused 1TB hdd which is a good start. I also already have a 1080p monitor, mouse, speakers, and keyboard.

Here's what I got:

I'll be using this for games (Dirt 3, GRID 2, Witcher 3 etc...) and work (maya, alias, vred, photoshop, premiere, cubase etc...). Also, I don't have high expectations on game performance. I've been playing all games on high-ish settings but at 720p. So, I'm happy w/ whatever I get.

At the bottom of the part list is a flag about a slimline sata cable. Do I need it? How much is it?

If it makes a difference, I wont' overclock the cpu but, if it's not hard, I may try w/ the gpu.

I've seen many full and mid towers cases but never an itx. How hard is the cable management w/ a case like the RVZ01?

Also, will the stock cooler be good enough, especially w/ 3D rendering and gaming?

Lastly any tips to give to a first time builder?

Cheers.

With the Silverstone Raven, you need a slim slot load optical drive, which I changed. Also, you don't want the S version cpu, and this ram is much better. If you think you can survive without an optical drive, that would save you $50 and you'd have enough to upgrade to an i7, which would give you pretty good performance increase for 3D rendering (but not for gaming).

You can add a better fan with the rest of your budget, and some thermal paste. The Raven isn't bad to cable manage if you're organized, but definitely needs help with more air flow from higher quality fans.

Also, don't overclock the gpu, and you don't need it on the cpu.
