Every time I attempt to start up my Windows 8 HP laptop, the computer's lights turn on, but the screen stays dark and the Caps Lock button flashes. Following another internet recommendation, I unplugged the computer, removed the battery, and held down the power button for a few seconds. After doing this, my computer powers up successfully and I am able to access my desktop, and the machine is connected to a strong WiFi signal, but I cannot load any pages in Chrome. Lately, if I attempt to run any kind of program, or remove programs (as I have been trying to eliminate suspects), I get the "Your laptop needs to restart :(" and the error message "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION". It finishes collecting error data and then the screen shuts off, but the lights and fan continue running and don't stop. I've been holding down the power button and starting the process all over again, which is probably very stupid and is getting me nowhere. I recently had a problem with a Bing advert toolbar popping up on certain websites, and I couldn't get rid of it using my normal methods, so I tried out an antivirus my friend used, admittedly with almost no real knowledge of the software. The antivirus is called Comodo, and I don't like it, to be honest. It downloaded some other programs that were made by the same developer or a partner, and seemed harmless, but they were annoying and unnecessary. I wonder if Comodo or a related program is the culprit, as they were downloaded just before I started having problems. Please help, I am exceedingly frustrated and I need this computer for work.

Do you install a cracked copy of games? I suspect Watch Dog from there. If it is Watch Dog then first you have to prepare your smartphone, then connect it to your laptop and start hacking just like in the game. lol just kidding, add your cracked game into exception list on the antivirus or try to disable it while playing. Or just remove it completely as per your story that you dislike it so much. lol. Afaik, Comodo came with preinstalled firewall (since firewall is its main focus), so maybe check the setting to see Chrome is not blocked or anything, try different browser if it is having the same can't load page problem.

Yep, I have the Sims 3. Trouble is, every time I try to remove the antivirus (using Control Panel, Uninstall a program), I get part of the way through it and the "You computer needs to shut down :(" message with the error code appears again, starting the process over exactly as before. There is a little Comodo widget window thingy that appears in the top right corner of the screen shortly after startup, and when I right-click it, there is an option to enable or disable the antivirus entirely, but when I click "Disable", it has no effect, and when i right-click again, it "Enable" is still checked. I have tried this several times, to no avail. I will try to disable all processes related to Comodo in task manager as soon as I can use my laptop, but for the time being, any suggestions are welcome. I am at my wit's end, honestly.
