I'm having a overheating problem with my CPU and GPU.

I've got an Intel i5 4670K and a ASUS DirectCU II 280X TOP Edition.

The motherboard carrying the parts is a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 rev 1.1

Case info: Cooler Master Force 500
Fans:
- 1 140mm 1150RPM Corsair fan(i'm not sure which one anymore, but was praised it's performance against noise) which sucks air from outside on the front.
- 1 80mm 800rpm fan on the back of Mobo(right side of case, if seen from power buttons view). which sucks air in.
- 1 80mm 800rpm stock case fan blowing air outside of case, where the heatsink of the cpu resides.

This all under a 28-30c ambient temperature, and a SYSTEM temperature of 32-35c even under load, which basically means that airflow is correct.

There is also NO overclocking involved in any way but factory settings

CPU problem:

Heatsink: Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition, stock fans(800rpmx2, pointing towards the back of the system where also a fan is blowing the wair outside the case which is also 800rpm).

On prime95(Small FFT's) my CPU reaches the 85-90c at some point and 75c+ under certain games which is way beyond its safe limit.

I've tried reattaching reapplying thermal paste(Obviously Arctic Silver 5) and heatsink on it for a hundred times using a hundred different methods. Last usage was the pea method(which spreaded the paste perfectly by the way) to no avail. Watching reviews of the heatsink it should perform much better(also including ambient temperature).

What is causing this temps, i'm not sure anymore. I tried *literally* everything of improving the temps of the system, reading topics everywhere including here and on overclock.net .

GPU has not been touched in anyway except fitting it into slot, running on a max of 88c under Furmark and also reaching 80c under certain games, including Battlefield 4(which is GPU heavy). This is for a 280X beyond its 75c safe limit(read on overclock.net).

I'm out of any luck now, i've never had these temps in any of my self-built PC's, which makes me think there's something faulty with every part in this build.

My last try to let this run any cooler is making a topic here on Tom's Hardware. Maybe i've seen things wrong, used my logic wrong etc...

If i don't have anything covered which you need let me know and i will reply/edit at end of OP.

Thanks in advance,
Brian van den Berg

Edit: Forgot something: I've let all fans run on full factory speed all the time, even the 2 CPU ones except GPU

im assuming that fur mark and prime 95 are stress testing programs which means it runs the particular hardware at its max. as long those temperature you mentioned are safe. as long as it doesn't reach 98+ then your fine. my max hits 95 degrees all the time event playing minecraft, its fine

Official tCASE temp for the Intel i5 4670K is 72c according to http://ark.intel.com/products/75048/Intel-Core-i5-4670K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz?q=i5%204670k

The 75c 280X was just an assumption based on an amount of overclockers/people on overclock.net

I do also know it's not a short-term problem, but rather a long-term lifespan problem. Given it's one of the hottest times The Netherlands have had in years and years(and summer just started), doesn't mean that it doesn't needs to be able to run on 30c ambience.

if your really concerned then put in liquid cooling (if your case supports it)
i recently built my new computer, with a six core i7 running at 3.5ghz (turbo 3.9) it runs at 15 degrees on idle. about 20 playing battlefield 4 and hits 50 degrees when running a 100% (through stress test). although you don't really need it but those temps are normal. put your gpu and cpu at 100% in a stress test and see what temps they hit. if they are below 90 then your fine if its above then you should be a bit worried but its most likely nothing though

My question/help is just because all kinds of reviews expects it to run so much better. I've had this cooler on an AMD FX-8320 too which made it run below 50c all the time, and i didn't even take care putting on the thermal paste properly by that time(i just put something in the middle and smashed the heatsink on it)
