Pc crashing when i play games on windows 7 64 bit

Hi guys,i recently upgraded my windows 7 from 32 bit to 64 bit and when i play a game,my pc would hang and make a choking sound.at first i thought that my pc was overheating but it wasn't.when i restart my pc and log on i get a message
Windows has Recovered from an unexpected shutdown

I searched for answers on the internet and they suggested to change my OS to 32 bit which would fix the problem.any solution so i can fix this problem without changing to 32 bit?
