I just bought a new Asus VS228DE 21.5 inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD LED Monitor (1920x1080, 5ms, VGA).

It had 5 out of 5 stars on amazon.

I am not being funny but the picture is shit.

It has lines going across the screen if you look closely they are noticeable.

Its too bright at all times no matter what you do the display picture sucks.

P.S - I am connecting via a VGA to DVI Connector to my gpu. Since it has no VGA input method.

Could that be the problem?

Motherboard - Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970
GPU - MSI Radeon r9 270.

The monitor only came with a vga wire and I have no input vga method on my graphics card. So I am suck using this adaptor I got with my gpu to connect my monitor.

I am really disappointed with this purchase.

Most all lower end monitors will look like total crap right out of the box. Theyll be washed out and way too bright. Manufacturers do this by default so their display will stand out more on the store shelf being brighter than all the others. Do some digging around on Youtube for some tutorials on monitor calibration and setup. You cant actually "calibrate" a monitor really without a colorimeter or something similar but you can still dial in the monitor's settings some to get a better picture.

Check out the different presets as well. Turn the Contrast and Brightness down as well cause theyre probably pegged out. If you can set the color temperature, set it to 6500K which is the standard color temperature.

If after doing some adjusting the picture is still really bad, hit up Amazon for a RMA because it might be defective.
