Bose = Marketing company

Sennheiser/Beyerdynamic/Shure/V-Moda/Etc = Hi fidelity speaker company.

While Bose makes makes relatively nice looking products they're mostly a marketing company. They plaster ads everywhere and who do you think has to pay for those ads? You'd be right if you said the consumer. Now, also note while their products are okay they are no where near the level of sophistication you can get for something comparable in price. Is noise cancelling a must? While this technology is great for drowning out airplane-engine noise it muddles the authentic sound reproduction most high-end headphone drivers are trying to create. It's a give take, if it's a must then go for the Bose, they're experts at noise cancellation. If you would prefer to have high-end, grand sound reproduction then I advise you look elsewhere.

Now, I've heard okay things about the PSB's. I've not used them, so I have no real opinion to form on them. What I can tell you is to me they look more like a lifestyle/fashion headphone. The materials looks of quality but without being able to test them I can't say go for them. What I can do is give you a list of some of the very best headphones in that price range- In my opinion.

Mr. Speakers Mad Dog: https://mrspeakers.com/product/mad-dog-leather-alpha-pads-comfort-strap/ <-- Beautiful imo, really good too. Best friend has a pair and I envy them.

All in all I gave you a list of very nice, very different headphones. All are audiophile-grade and all are excellent but of course all will sound different to the user, it's subjective. What sounds superb for me could very well not to you. What can be said is in the world of Audiophiles these are all allotted a lot of love.

If I can just say one final thing, not to sway you or anything, but out of any headphone the one I am currently saving towards is the Mad Dogs- One, they're boutique headphones and quality is their number one goal. No gimmicks, no tricks just superb headphones that, from reviews and personal experience, beat most 600+ headphones. 2, they're stunning and a work of art, they're something truly unique and not everyone will have them or know what they are. 3, they take well to amplifiers. Finally, in my opinion, they tend to drop more bass when the material needs it suggesting a linear bass line, it's a more forward presentation and the sound stage is phenomenal. I suggest these, I really do, yet it is up to you. You should do some research on Hi Fi sites though. This way you can tailor your needs to the type of music you listen to.
