I have a Mac computer currently running Mac and Windows. I am hoping to move some space from my windows disk which still has 6GB free space to the Mac system. However, the windows disk management's shrink volume button is disabled when I tried to shrink the NTFS windows disk. On the Mac's side, I tried with the disk utility and it also disallowed edit to any of the disks. Is it a dead lock between the two OS? How do I fix this?

6GiB isn't much free space...
You can't normally edit a drive you're booted off. I'd get a Linux LiveCD/USB and use GParted to do it.
