I'm trying to overclock my Athlon 64 3700+
but the cpu speed is locked and all I get is Hyper transfer frequency.
MB :A8N-SLI Premium
Bios:1009
CPU:Athlon 64 3700+

Solution
ok.
advanced tab -> jumper free configuration -> overclock profile (set to manual)

Under this menu you'll get cpu multiplier, set it to manual (i think default is 11.5 for your chip) ... for simple overclocking, just bump that multiplier .5 at a time. save and see if your system will load into windows. keep doing that till your system won't boot anymore, then set it back to the last good configuration, and start to stress it with prime95... every time prime95 fails you'll need to add more vcore. just add vcore in small bumps. once it's able to pass prime95 burn for 12+ hours your overclock is stable.

btw: under this menu you'll also find the cpu voltage (vcore)
well... the multiplier is locked... what you're looking to overclock is the FSB/HT or HTT clock. it should be at a base of 200mhz. your total clock speed is that 200mhz * locked cpu multiplier. in an athlon 64 3700+ i think that should look like 200*11.5 = 2300ghz... or something like that. Understand it's been almost 9 years since i really seriously overclocked one of these chips and i'm going by memory now.

The HT/HTT or FSB clock affects more then just the clock rate for the cpu... it also affects your ram

So you're right... the HT frequency is the number you're going to have to play with to overclock your athlon 64. Of course you'll have the added fun of having to play with your ram a bit with it. it can get a little complicated. But the easiest way to deal with this is to slow your ram down as slow as it will go, and THEN overclock the HT frequency. that way you can take the ram speed out of the equation. once you have the clock speed at a good overclock and stable, you can start to bring your ram speed back up.

Did just that,but I don't notice a difference.Same temperature,same ghz, same everything.

Thanks,it worked.
But setting up the multiplier didn't speed up anything,so I'm gonna turn up the cpu frequency a notch.

The max cpu multiplier is x11.
There is no vcore, just Cpu Voltage.
I got the message.
