How do I know if my back up worked?

I have a WD My Book 3 TB and the back up doesn't seem to work when I plug it in.... I haven't done one in a long time and instantly it said it was backed up which I highly doubt... I have also verified the under the WD SmartWare.swstor folder in user and none of my new stuff since last backed up is there. What do I do to back it up manually I guess?

This is why I clone my hard disk instead of using Your kind of backup software. I can use a screwdriver to swap the backup into my PC and test it that way. I keep the "original" as my backup.

To answer Your question, pick 3 files to restore. Move them off Your laptop to a flash drive, and remove the flash drive. Next, try to restore the 3 files from Your backup.

Good job testing Your backup! Never trust a backup that has not been tested.
