So I picked up the i7 4790k today from Micro Center along with the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and I was wondering if I would need to update my Bios, If I do I heard something about Flashing it but I'm not sure how to exactly do that, so if that's what I would have to do it would be nice for someone to explain to me how to exactly do that.

Thanks! :)

No need to. But if there's anew one available and it has updates you want, then go ahead.

Most old timers will tell ya not to do it from windows.....tho I have done so over 100 times w/o issue. Nowadays with a BIOS tool built in or things like Asus Flashback, I find this easier. If you were in Z87 board, you would have to update the BIOS with a 4th generation CPU in place before upgrading to the 4790k.

Use MSI live update. I recommend you do it only if you have issue with your computer. If everything is fine for now, wait and do that in 6 months. BIOS can greatly improve stability and fix common issues. I had to update my MSI G45 Gaming this morning.
