I am using windows 7 professional. problem is whenever i turn on or restart my computer, after booting up the small monitor icon in the system tray (network icon) searches the network for a minute than a red cross appears on it. after a few minutes, the cross disappears automatically and i am able to use the internet/network..the connections are all fine, router works perfectly on cell phone/laptop, the same wired connection when tested on laptop, works fine...the router power is always on so there is no chance of it booting up..

system config;
Intel Core i5 4670K
Intel DH87MC mobo
8GB Corsair Vengence
120GB Corsair Neutron SSD
nVidia GTX660 4GB
Creative SB X-Fi sound

Solution
That's not unusual on some PC setups, depends on the network card, but it can be improved often by swapping the ethernet cable for a shorter one so there is less excess cable.

Another option is to put your PC in to sleep mode instead of shutting down. When you wake it up the internet connection should come up almost immediately. I haven't shut down my PC since our last holiday six months ago, I just put it to sleep at night.
