AMD Radeon R7 250 1GB not working, need help installing properly.

So I'm using a computer me and friends made from mixing and matching. The computer always ran with ease with my Nvidia GeForce 610 2gb ddr3. So I'm entry level in pc gaming and I bought an R7 250 today, for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it work, I've went into bios and set my main video to pciex16, and still it won't be recognized on my computer. I need help like step by step.

1-have you connected the graphic cards display connectors to monitor not motherboards own display connector.
2-install motherboards drivers from their website and also graphic cards..
3-update direct x .net framework and c++...
4-give you all specs..
