The least expensive solution I found was the Generic USB 2.0 Mic/Speaker 5.1 Audio Sound Card Adapter for $4.05 (I don't think I'd recommend that one) and there probably is no ceiling on price ($2000+).
I'd think the Asus Xonar U3 for $40 should work better as a solution

judging by the reviews from US Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Andrea-Electronics-C1-1021450-1-Reduction-Technology/product-reviews/B005LXGGM2 it would seem to be a viable solution - it even has some software to allow you to play with the sound http://www.andreaelectronics.com/audiocommander.html
