I'll suggest resetting the laptop by unplugging the laptop and removing battery. With battery out and no power going to the laptop, press and hold power button for 15-30 seconds. Put battery back in and try to start then.
If that doesn't do it, a little more info such as light sequence when attempting to start, make and model, or anything else you might think will help (it just might)
