Dear fellow forum members, I have a problem. I would like to upgrade my RAM from 8 GB to 16GB, because I use my PC as a server and I do a lot of video editing. The only problem is: I'm not sure if my motherboard can support 16GB of RAM.

This website says: "2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots Supports Dual Channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory (Max 8GB)"

This is the manual, it says: "2 DDR3 DIMMs support DDR3 1333/ 1066 DRAM (16GB Max)"
My motherboard is an MSI MS-7728(2 RAM slots).

I run 64-bit windows home premium. I also would like to know how what MHz is about, and if I can use a 1600MHz RAM stick on my motherboard, or if this doesn't matter.

I was looking at this RAM: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-BLS2C8G3D1609ES2LX0CEU-1600MHz-Ballistix-Memory/dp/B00A14ZT8I?&linkCode=wsw&tag=fmcgbe-21

Thanks in advance,

DutchDude

are you sure? i buy two modules of 8gb double sized (normal for this capacity) and the chipset of this motherboard doesnt support them. Works for a time, but soon it freezes.

Better 8gb dual channel.
