I'm about to buy a TX3 as I feel the stock cooler for my 3570K is too loud especially when it gets up to speed.
I was wandering if anyone can tell me whether the stock fan that comes with the TX3 will be quiet enough? Or should I invest in a different 92mm fan?
Thanks

At 2800 rpm it's going to be a bit loud....they advertise 35 dba. The hyper 212 is also $20 (after $10 MIR) , a betetr cooler but a lil bit louder.

If ya can manage $65 or so, these are < 20 dbA . 35 dBA is about 3 times as loud as 20

19 dbA - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
20 dbA - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I'm pretty set on the TX3 as the 212 will not fit in my Fractal Design Core 1000 (apparently)
Some people have said it does, some people have said it doesn't, I'd just prefer to go with something that I know will fit, and it relatively cheap.
Should I purchase a better fan for the TX3?

Replacing fans on a cooler is most often a fool's errand. There is no way around it.... the faster the fan goes,m the more noise it makes. Tho there are sight differences from the fan design itself, the majority of the noise on a CPU cooler comes from the tubulence created by blowing air thru tightly spaced fins.

You can but a H100i for example, change the fans to an acceptable sound level and, after $150 invested, wind up with a cooling level the same or as a $20 air cooler.

Okay, thanks a lot!

Any recommendations on an effective, cheap cpu cooler under 150mm in height? Maybe from personal experience? Water cooling isn't really an option for me at the moment
