So, I have a few extra 2.5" hard drives from a laptop that I want to install into my desktop, but I am unsure how to do it. The drives have exposed PCBs on the bottom, so is it ok to just mount them onto my case's flat, metal drive brackets? Would this cause heat/electrical problems?

Solution
If the case has 2.5" mount points, it will be fine. Many, many drives, both 2.5" and 3.5", have the PCB exposed. It is recessed enough below the drive case as to not be an issue.
