Windows 8.1 Student Version

Just a general question about the 8.1 Student version of windows. It says on the site (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Windows-8.1-Pro-Student/productID.288492700) "Important: Windows 8.1 full version is for Windows 7 users only."

What does this actually mean, and are microsoft actually trying to push customers away from their product by baffling us with utter Bullsh*t?

I believe you need to run an executable file to download the installer, which can then be burnt onto a USB or DVD to install elsewhere. Not 100% certain, though.

It may also be a way of saying that you don't need to buy 8.1 if you're already running 8.

I think they're saying if you have windows 7 installed on your pc, this student edition will upgrade you to 8.1 pro (full version)... if you don't have windows 7 it will only upgrade you to windows 8.1 pro (student edition)

so, you think its just an upgrade? in my case im starting with a fresh motherboard so i would either have to buy the full version or buy windows 7 (which i actually prefer) and then pay extra to get 8.1? I just don't know anymore, anyone else just miss the simplicity of CDs?
