I built this computer 2 years ago and it has been like this for a while it will turn off when I am playing games that require some power, but never does so for weak games, it never shuts down during anything else though. the graphics card only ever reaches 86C degrees . when i play games such as l4d2 it turns off after 15 minutes and i must unplug the psu cable for 10 minutes before it will turn on again, maybe i have some power cables put in the wrong areas?

That PSU looks like it's for expert tweakers- are you one? If not, have you messed with any of the settings? It definitely sounds like a PSU issue to me, and while it does look to be of good quality, that doesn't mean that it can't fail.

Maybe it's because I wasn't using the blue or red modular connections? I was only using 2 normal modular connections for the power supply connectors and for the 4 Pin molex cables, then I used the cables built Into the power supply which were the CPU power 24 pin, fan pin, and 2 6 pin pci cables which I connected to the gpu, but maybe I should connect the gpu to the red and blue connectors on the power supply? The reason I haven't is because I don't have them modular cables to connect power supply to gpu, but before I order em do you think that would make any difference in preventing the pc turning off while gaming?
I have been lent another 700w power supply and it's working good so far but before I order one myself do you think what I mentioned above would fix the psu?

causing too much strain on the built in cables area maybe? if i if i plugged in the gpu cables into the red and blue modular inputs it wouldnt turn off as maybe less strain?

Have you overclocked?

I don't think rma is an option any more.
I also don't think that the cpu/motherboard connections are on the same rails as the gpu=pcie connections, but you could try to use the other cables (red/blue) to see if it will help. You could even mix fixed and modular.

i used the red pci e connections which look like they are on the same rail as cpu/mobo as you can see in this picture, it only turns off when gaming so maybe its because theres too much stress on the same rail as both cpu/mobo and graphics card are on same rail?

not yet as i dont have any other pci connectors, but before getting them i wanted to know if it was a waste of time to get them, do you think it may solve the problem? also im in EU so it may be a little difficult in getting the right pci connectors

Before buying unnecessary parts lets try this,

Download the next program,

http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html

You can open hwinfo32,after that open the sensor window by marking sensors=V,after click run,,then click at the bottom "Logging start" ,after that choose a name and place for the log.like Hwinfolog at your desktop.Leave it open and do game/stresstest or whatever you do until a crash. The log will end at that point but will be saved.
After the restart upload the log to a site without to much crap (!),for instance http://www.zippyshare.com/ (not the best as well), and leave a link to it here. You could also look at the log yourself with either excel or libre office calc.

I looked at it as well and see no problems, not at the psu side or otherwise. In the end these are software readings, what are the values for the +12V/+5/3.3 rail in the bios?
The gpu only gets as hot as 86°c you say? That's the only thing that's creaping up when looking at the data.
Looking at your problem can it either be psu or gpu.Can you swap parts? Maybe lend from a friend ...

In that case it seems to be the psu, don't bother with buying extra cables,i don't think that will help, just look for a new one or if you cannot afford it a good second hand.

The gpu get's up to 89°c according to hwinfo which still is 8°c under the max of 97°c given for the card, but can you clean it just to get the temps a little lower?
