Buy the 212+ instead. Similar performance, but $10 cheaper after the rebate.

You would need to remove the thermal paste from the CPU after you remove the stock cooler. Using some isopropyl alcohol to remove the left over paste will get the job done.

Yes you will need to clean off the old goop. With the paste that comes on the stock heatsink this isn't such a fun task.

Clean it off using 90%+ alcohol (Such as Isopropyl) and personally, I like using Q-Tips.
Unless you plan on using the stock cooler again, you probably don't need to do this to it too. Just stash it somewhere or throw it away.

The Hyper 212 Evo is a better cooler than the Hyper 212+. The base is a completely different, superior design and the Evo cools several degrees Celsius lower than the 212+.

They are decent budget coolers and for the cool running Sandy Bridge chips were all that was needed. Unfortunately many people still recommend them as the 'go to' cooler for Ivy Bridge and Haswell when in fact the newer chips run hotter and can benefit from better coolers.

The EVO might get you 2 to 3 degrees cooler. :D

You might already have some with you. Check for rubbing alcohol in your first aid cabinet ( if you have one). Most likely 70% but it still works. Otherwise your local major retail store/ pharmacy will have it.
