Specs...
I7- 3770k
Sapphire 7970 ghz
Asrock z77 extreme 4
Windows 8

Basically when I play games certain games will crash to a red screen. I've checked my ram and all is good on that front. I've swapped my gpu with another that's the exact same and I still had the issue. My temps are all fine. I've run the Intel cpu diagnostic thing and everything was fine. I don't believe it's a driver issue. I was thinking maybe the motherboard is dropping voltages for some reason, but I honestly have no idea. Any ideas?

are your GPU drivers all up to date? If so then check your voltages, and easy way to check them is to open HWMonitor. If you dont have HWMonitor http://download.cnet.com/HWMonitor/3000-2094_4-10793486...

this has been happening since I first built it almost a year and a half ago, but it only does it for certain games so I never worried too much about it. My drivers for my gpu are fine. I've never updated my BIOS. I downloaded HW Monitor, but I have no clue if these are normal readings or not. It only happens when gaming so I'm not sure how I could check on those voltages while playing

To check the voltage while playing, first open the HwMonitor, and then the game, and once ur into full screen press Alt+Enter and it will take you to a smaller screen and u can check the voltages while playing the game

Should I be focusing on a specific group like cpu or gpu?

you should focus on the GPU, cuz its a display related problem

this time it crashed to a blue screen whea uncorrectable error. everything looked normal...amd voltage was 1.2 something..temps were fine. same with cpu. this is basically what i was getting as i played I belive. http://i.imgur.com/kU0mdpk.png
To the left is blue screen view and all of those crashes are the same thing

I guess it could also be psu related. I've run the Intel diagnostic thing and all that with no errors. I've stressed the gpu and cpu and it all ran fine. It's just certain graphically intense games. Maybe there's some sort of driver issue? I have no idea how to figure out exactly what it is without just buying random parts and replacing them

I think I've gotten the issue resolved for anyone who ends up having a similar issue and sees this topic. My motherboard was set to auto for cpu voltages and I guess it was just giving it way too much. I changed the setting to fixed and just started with a random 1.15 at standard clock speeds and so far no crashes after an hour of playing saints row 4 whereas before I was crashing AT LEAST once every thirty minutes
