HI,

I've completed my first build and I'd like to know what I should run. What components should be tested, cpu, ram?

Also does one might know how to install an OS by flash drive?

Solution
You will want to use Prime95 to stress test the CPU. Google the safe operating temps for the CPU and monitor the temps constantly. You will need to stop the test if it reaches teh max safe operating temp.

I use the GPU benchmark "Heaven" since it stresses the GPU and not the CPU so that way you can troubleshoot the GPU all by itself. Again you will need to google the safe operating temp for your specific GPU and you will need to monitor the temps constantly and stop the test if it gets too hot.

Just as some advice, let the Heaven benchmark run through all of it's scenes a few times before hitting the benchmark button. Otherwise it will come out with some low low min FPS.

You can use whatever temp monitoring software that you like...

To install a OS by flash driving you are going to need the ISO of the OS and a program called Poweriso (At least thats what I use) and once you are in Poweriso go to tools then "make bootable flash drive"

You'll also want to measure your room temp and add 1.5c to every 1.0c difference from your room temp today compared to the hottest summer day room temp that you get. That way you will know what to expect in the hotter temperatures and how far you can OC in summer.

There are hundreds of guides that you can google about making a bootable flash drive so google is your friend there ;)

Go forth and conquer!
