Having internet problems

Hey everyone,
I've been having a problem with my internet lately. I'm asking before having to call our company, as I use that for a last resort.

Right now I pay for a 375 Kilobyte per second package, which normally works fine for playing online and streaming movies on most cases. Lately however i've been getting around 275 kilobytes per second, which shouldn't be a problem as we used to have that speed and it would still work just fine. I can still stream movies fine, sometimes multiple movies at once. The problem comes in when trying to play games online or load multiple websites.

If someone browses the internet, the speeds tank. Which isn't normal, for us at least. Also, playing online is impossible. It'll show 68 ping on the server list, and when I get in the server it says the same. When I start moving my character however the ping skyrockets to 1,000 or more.

I've tried removing every device, and only ran one game with nothing else on and it'll still do the same thing. This has been going on since July 4th. Before this we could easily have two computers running online games and stream a movie without hitting pings over 150.

I have unplugged and re-plugged in the modem and router. I also have checked for unrecognized devices on the router list, as far as i'm aware no one is using our internet.

If more information is needed, please ask and i'll try and provide it.

Thanks,
Patrick

Yes, but the next provider is at min 15Megabits (Or around 1-2Megabites.) and that's being shared throughout the neighborhood. Which a lot of our neighbors decided to switch to those.

You can run a few pings tests to Google.com in CMD on both computers, but I'm not really surprised by your results.
That's a slow internet connection. The more demanding applications get (including Windows update or any other program that decides to update), the faster your internet speed will need to be.

Surprisingly, it does fit our needs. I've played with a stream and two/three games online without much latency. Which is why I bring it up, as it's not normal for just one application to use the internet and slow the rest down completely.

Change anything recently? Like a router?

Could be a virus as well,using all available bandwidth on anyone of the workstations.

Nope, everything has stayed the same for over two weeks. We've been scanning and nothing has come up.
After a bit more testing I found out that anything on steam will most likely get a really high ping if it's the only thing running.
Games that don't require steam or programs like it will have a normal ping as long as it's the only thing running. Tested with teamspeak and anytime someone talked it would sky rocket.

From cmd, run ping google.ca

Let it run for awhile, and where your pings are

I think you can access your modem in a browser at 192.168.100.1, see if there are any channels down.

I did several test with the google.ca:
Nothing using internet: 89 ping steady
Youtube video: 900 ping small variation.
Loading web page: 680 ping small variation.

I couldn't access my Modem through that IP nor another one I found on a different website. The modem and router are separate, just in case that's relevant.

Usually you can access the modem, even outside the router.

Are you on wireless or a dedicated network card?

from CMD type
pathping google.ca

Don't do anything while it's pinging, we can see when it starts to delay. It could take a few minutes to complete and it will post the results.

I'll look into the brand and try to find some information on accessing the modem.

I'm using a dedicated card, and have tried using wireless.

Nothing else running:

@Qdeathstar
pathping google.ca

@Alec
I have switched between OpenDNS, google DNS, and the native one, but non-seem to work. I'll try switching on my router soon.
