How best to cool/upgrade my computer?

I built my first PC about a year ago and now I've got the custom PC bug. However I'm still unsure about a lot of things and don't have much of a budget.

Here's my rig.

  • CPU: AMD FX-6100

    CPU Cooler: stock

    GPU: GeForce 550ti

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3

    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB

PSU: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M700

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 (has 3 fans; front, back, top)

    HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB

    HDD2: Samsung SSD 120GB

I've been pretty happy with it though I've been having some heat issues lately despite not overclocking. Using SpeedFan I'm seeing that my GPU is sitting at 61c and my CPU is at 42c both while web browsing. I do want to upgrade my computer but I can only spend about $50, maybe $100 if I push it. What would you recommend for upgrading and/or cooling my computer?

Solution

you cannot run 2 different GPU they must be identical and both GPU and motherboard must support this. ( it's called SLI for nvidia and crossfire for AMD)

So you would have to replace your old card for this one. of course the better solution would be to get an even better GPU but you are on tight budget !

Also, dual GPU is only usefull when playing in ultra resolution (4K). in 1080P, getting a second GPU will boost your performance of 10-15 % which is not worth 2 GPU...

i would say this is normal temperature since you are on stock cooler.
MAX temp is normaly between 90 to 100 C so you still got some room there. To upgrade your gaming performance, you should change your GPU but the only thing yo can afford is an AMD R7 260X which would double your performance. see tom's comparison there:

this card is around 100$ : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r7260x2gd5oc

If I did get a new GPU like the one you suggested would it replace my 550 ti or just be added into my system? If it does replace the 550 ti, what do I do with my old GPU? How reasonable would it be to get a second GPU that could run in concert with my current GPU?
