Hey! Sorry, my english is bad.

I have a AMD A8-3870k APU. My default voltage is high! 1,417v. I want to overcklocked it, but i'm scary because my vcore is high. I have an aftermarket cooler (Cooler Master 212 EVO). Is dangerous overclock my APU with that vcore? How much voltage can my processor hold?

Solution
The default voltage for AMD systems is always high it seems. For FX chips, they can run at around 1.32V at their stock clocks usually but for some reason if left on Auto, youll be seeing voltages in the mid 1.40's and running into temp issues. Same thing with the old Phenom II chips.

Id go in to the BIOS and set the voltage manually and set it much lower and run some stress tests to make sure it works. Chances are you can run at a significantly lower voltage than what comes stock.

I'm not familiar with AMD so I don't know what the average voltage should be but why is it so high if it's only at stock speeds? Did you set it higher? Did you try overclocking at a lower voltage and run into instability?

I'm not overclocking yet. I'm not familiar with overclock, so... I'm doing a lot of research before try to overclock. No, that voltage is stock.
