I'am running a Win7 64bit OS on a 1TB sata HDD.I want to install a SSD 120 GB drive and put the OS on it to make it my boot drive.I just built this computer a couple of weeks ago and there isnt much on the HDD yet so maybe I should clone the sata drive to the SSD?This is my first SSD so Im not sure what is the best way to do this.Mainly I want to do this for the FAST boot time.I would appreciate any advice you can share.Thank you all for your help.

There are lots of info out there for this... If you've just buit the system.. I would push you to do a restart and load the SSD from scratch without the 1TB in it. Once fully loaded and updated copy your user data from the 1TB to the SSD. Reformat the SSD, now move your user Profile back to the 1TB... I have a 120GB SSD as a boot drive and it is way toooooo small to leave your Profile on it.

See my system specs here

You want him to do what now? Install OS, move profile to SSD, format SSD with all data and OS on it, then somehow move everything you just formatted back to the 1TB? I'm cornfused...

How about just fresh install of OS on the SSD, then just make sure the libraries (video, pictures, documents, etc.) are connected to folders on the data drive, easy peesy

I agree with a fresh install but the problem is when I installed Win7 it was 32 bit and I thought that wouldnt be a problem because I have a 64 bit software only install cd but it does not have sp1.The 32 bit does have sp1 on it.I did the phone call and got a very good lady on the phone who got my Windows going. The other good advice was to only have the SSD installed and then load Win7.The Win7 32 bit software and key are legal so thats not the glitch. I will load Win7 64 bit software only, then the key and let Widows do all the updates. The sun will come out and birds will sing again.Otherwise I will be back on the phone.LOL
I thank you all for your advice.
