How will my 280x perform with a 1440p monitor?

My overclocked Sapphire vapor x 280x on a 42 inch plasma tv is giving me fps between 60 and 90 on games like bf4 and crysis 3 on maximum setting. What kind of performance hit can I expect? I am looking at either the Samsung S27c590hs or the Dell U2713hm.

Hi - On most games it's going to be 9-15fps less, but on some like Bioshock & Crysis, 20+ fps decrease.

Hi - I'm not sure how much you'll recover, but if you're getting 60-90 now, you will still
have v good quality game play, and any recovery will be gravy so to speak.

I'll be facing the same situation next yr (altho I game very little), I'm at 1920x1200 now and plan
on going to 2560x1600.

The R9 280X is sort of borderline for 1440p, but if you're willing to cut down on the details a bit it should be capable of 50-60 FPS in most games. It's hard to get really specific without actually having this hardware myself.

Here's some benchmarks:

Obviously they're using graphics presets, so your performance will be better if you're fine-tuning things.

I deal with very high end audio video hardware for a living and thus very sensitive towards video quality. I would hate to cut down on details but guess have to do it with less aa and hope the higher resolution of 1440p will make aa less of a issue. I must point out that I plan to get a 290x or even jump camp to a 780ti(never ever use a NVidia before) later in the year(cannot afford both at the same time!).

At 1440p and up any sort AA or AF is really not nessecary at that high of a resolution. So keep everything maxed out and just turn off or down the AA/AF and you'll still get 50-60+ fps.

I have a 1440p monitor with a PowerColor 270x DEVIL and I'm getting 40+ fps with AA and AF off. Can't tell if its on anyways makes no diff in graphics quality at 1440p.
