I had previously selected an EVGA gtx 760, but am second guessing myself. I am going to be using an FX8350 with a mobo that doesn't support SLI, only crossfire. Should I get an AMD graphics card instead looking into the future. If so, what one would you suggest under $230.

I was looking at these two

I didn't search for a while so I don't really know what's out there.

maybe you are not gonna like the BIOS that stayed the same like in 2000's have a look https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gigabyte+ga-990fxa-ud3+bios
i dont say that this is a bad mobo it is not its good but take a look at this one or few from ASUS

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
ASUS M5A97X EVO R2.0
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0

you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzNwiXA03fQ
How this board has a much easier bios and its pretty nice looking

ASUS is top quality for the MOBO i reccomend it take a look at this
What is the motherboard?
If it dosent support SLI it wont support true Xfire either (The second slot will be in x4 mode, severely hobbling any card put in it)

Both of the 280s are the same. Either will be a strong card, and you wont be able to run two of either on a board that dosent support SLI.

Thanks, I was originally going to go with the M5A97 but people said the Gigabyte was better. I think I am now going to go with the M5A99X Evo (I don't mind the old bios, but the M5A99X supports crossfire and sli, in a dual x8 config). With that said, around $230, is the EVGA GTX 760 a good card or should I switch to an r9 280 or 280x. I know this sounds like I am inexperienced but I'm not, It's just i picked the gtx 760 a while ago and haven't been keeping up with the new amd series due to school.

nah Sry not a expert just pulling out the best what i learned from my build but SLI-Crossfire does come with a drawback which are: Too much heat, sometimes big trouble with game performance and not all games support SLI i really dont know about this never had a SLI or Crossfire in my life but that is what people are talking about worth investigating but i whould stick to a single GPU some more powerfull one then a two GPU's you will be happy with that EVGA 760 belive me its a good card i have ASUS one its slightly more OC then mine but its awesome card i dont think that its an issue ASUS is very quiet even under load when FAN DUTY goes to 70-80% i cant hear it its very quiet and very cool card runs at 33c-35c IDLE and 65c-67c under load
