Hey guys! I have the Enermax NAXN 650w powersupply, i'm using a 6970 now and planning to upgrade to a r9 280 non x,

Will my psu handle this card? I've checked on digital alliance's web, the card needs 750w psu minimum,

My specs are:
AMD FX8120 @3.8ghz stock voltage
Corsair XMS3 2x4GB DDR3
XFX HD 6970
Asus XONAR DG 5.1
Asus M5A97 R2.0
Western Digital 2TB Green
Seagate Barracuda 500GB
A DVD drive
Coolermaster Seidon 120m
2 regular fans, 2 led fans, 1 high performance fans

Any helps would be appreciated
Rgds Afan

as long as you do not overclock too much this FX CPU, then no problem

That 280 does not need 750W. That is being safe. You could run a 280 on 550W. You have 650W which is better since the 8120 consumes more power when overclocked. You are totally ok.

Also, going from 6970 to 280 will be a nice jump but can you afford one more step? going to 280x.

I normally recommend at least a good 550 for rig like yours and that '650' you have is 650 at peak, it only carries a little over 500 watts on the 12 volt rail, so I wouldn't pair it up with a rig like yours

Actually the peak power is 715 watts

Then do no worry about anything and plug this new GPU up!

Peak power isn't to be considered the way I think you see it. Not all you component will reach peak at the same very moment. it is like statistically impossible. while one will peak others won't so you don't have to worry much. Tom's loaded a R9 280X at max and it consumed 257 W see there: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-280x-r9-2...

So your PSU will handle this just fine
