microphone jack melted, was it my fault?

please look at those photos.
ok so pretty much i plugged in image 3 and it immediately started to smoke and melted. which also melted image 1 which is the plug on the case end that connects to the motherboard. and image 2 are the plugs that go into the motherboard, i had both of them plugged in, am i meant to only have 1?.

i had both of those plugs plugged into the motherboard, did i do that wrong?
is this my fault it melted cause i cabled something wrong or was it a motherboard problem, case problem, or just a fact of bad wiring from the splitter?

please answer these questions:
on image 2, am i meant to have both or only 1 of those plugged into the motherboard
was this melting problem my fault?
 
Solution
I think you'll find the others are USB or FireWire, not HD Audio.

Somewhere in the manual you'll probably find it says that misconnecting them can cause hardware damage.

ahh so i was putting in 2. maybe it got twice and much power or something and caused the melting,

omg im a blithering imbecile. rookie error, thanks. none the less i still need a new cable cause the current one is melted. thank you for that
