My primary focus is photoshop, sony vegas, premiere pro and after effects. I might game occasionally but nothing overly intensive like flash games and Portal.

I'll be primarily editing 4k photos and could potentially have up to 50 layers in PS (16gb more ram will be bought when can be afforded). These pictures will then be combined in AE.

After searching through google, I've made a relatively uneducated list. And another person has recommended this.

Does one look better than the other? And based of that one, would you recommend any improvements to max out on performance?

I7 - that is a gaming PC, not an editing PC.

Video Editing software does not use the video card enough to justify anything over GTX 760. The gains are non existent.

Even GTX 650 does not fall far behind from the 4-5 times more expensive cards.

If you use Photoshop or After Effects - AMD is not an option. Both are RAM amount and RAM bandwidth hungry monsters. AMD platforms have a considerably less bandwidth than Intel platforms.

Also, FX 8350 can catch up to 3770k and 4770k in rendering, but not during pipeline work. A lot of the functions in that software is low...

Also, FX 8350 can catch up to 3770k and 4770k in rendering, but not during pipeline work. A lot of the functions in that software is low threaded, and the FX feels sluggish. Also the 8350 is miles behind the new 4790k

P.S I am a 3d modeler, animator and compositor.

You sure don't sound like one. "The more - the better" does not work in the computer world.

Professional Software does not care about RAM MHz like synthetics do. Professional Software responds better to Lower Latency RAM.

Thanks guys.. I'm now lost as to which is the best option :L

By the way, the £36 W7Pro operating system should be factored in around £100 since it's a dodgy dealer. Also I will be aiming for 32gb ram so W7 Home Premium is not an option.
