990XA-GD55 has a 8+2 power phase while all the 970-Gxxxx have 4+1 power phase. If you're looking at an 8 or 6 core then the go with the 990XA-GD55 else pick the other one

Best 970 board on the market with a 8+2 POWER PHASE DESIGN.

Will handle FX 8 cores due to it's good power and thermal design.

Gigabyte is personally not as good as MSI either in my opinion. Their customer support is also junk from what my friends have experienced.
