Windows 7 installation wont detect hard drive

I have been messing around with my second computer for a while. I took a external hdd, opened it and installed it. My pc detected it in the BIOS but it doesnt appear in Windows installation setup.

It's a WD3200BEVT Scorpio Blue

Hello... Does it have a Partition? does it have a formated Partiton? Does it have a previous version of Windows on it? What BIO mode are you using AHCI/IDE? Try different modes and/or delete the Partitions in another computer and Re-try.

I'll hook it up to my main PC and see if it has any partitions.

EDIT: it's AHCI. I've tried both...

Hello... AHCI will require a Mb/Windows driver installed before the Windows install... IDE will not.

That was only with windows XP.
Windows seven has native support for most generic sata controllers with AHCI.

This would only be required in win 7 if you're using some non standard SATA controller.
What motherboard/chipset are you using?

I got it fixed! I just had to use the CMD feature in the setup to format it again.
