Hello,
I have an old first gen i7 950 3.2ghz
and an msi x58 pro-e motherboard!
i am using r9 280x gpu
i dont know why i get less frame rates than other r9 280x
people play watch dogs and other games on ultra i just play on medium!
somebody tell me whats the problem!

Solution
Your CPU is old and getting a bit outdated, it may even bottleneck a little in certain games. But its faster than mine so I know what to expect from it. You can ignore the Windows experience index thing, its basically nonsense.

What other games do you play? How is your performance in them?

Can you post some temperature readings from while you are gaming? If your CPU or video card are overheating, it could be causing one of them to throttle back a bit and hurt performance.

I play Watch Dogs at near max detail and usually see 45-60 FPS. I've got a Core i5-750 and a GTX 770. So that is to say, I've got a similar GPU, lesser CPU.

Are you having any problems in other games? Watch Dogs is kind of a horrible mess of a game and I've heard of it having some issues with AMD video cards. Make sure your drivers are up to date, but definitely don't judge your whole system based on that game.

I've heard AC4 and CoD: Ghosts run like crap too, but to what degree I don't know. How does your system do in Far Cry 3, in terms of actual framerates and at what settings?

Also, what sort of monitor are you using? I've been assuming you're gaming at 1080p, but if you're using a 1440p monitor that would account for poorer performance in some of these titles.

Your temperatures sound pretty good. I'm not sure synthetic benchmark scores would mean much in this case, at least not to me.

That's good. Great, actually. Especially if you have vertical sync turned on. Are you expecting more?

Are the other games running okay? Basically, is Watch Dogs the only one with problems?

fps drops to 30 then again goes back to 100ish
