Hi

So today i tried installing a game on my computer, but when i put the DVD in the drive, it just gave up. It sounds the same way everytime i try - it works for 2 seconds, says clack clack clock and then it sounds as if it has given up. It doesn't see anything in the drive.
I've tried with another DVD with the same result. But when i tried with a music-cd, and it worked fine. Mysterious. I've tried to reinstall the driver, which didn't work either.

The DVD-drive is a Matshita DVD-RAM U8JA0ASW.

In advance, i appreciate your help.

To the best of my knowledge, the CD head and the DVD head are different heads, with different lasers. So it's possible that your DVD drive is now a CD drive and needs to be replaced.

Try simple things like testing the DVDs in question on another machine, or booting to BIOS and loading a DVD to see if it makes the same noise. The latter test is to rule out any driver issues.
