Hi guys
i want to upgrade my system to an amd fx 6300 and i am planning to buy a new card as well (a GTX 760) to replace my GTX 560ti. Will this graphics card be compatible with the motherboard (Gigabyte 970A DS3P) because the GTX 760 runs on PCI 3.0 whereas the motherboard has pci 2.0 ?

I also have a second choice of motherboard ie Gigabyte 990XA UD3. This has an sli option unlike the first one. In case i go for this :D  ...can a Cooler Master GX 750w handle both cards (GTX 760 and GTX 560ti) when using sli?

The graphics card is compatible with that motherboard.
You can't SLI the gtx760 with gtx 650ti

It's fine. PCIe 2.0 is plenty fast. You will get at most a 1% difference between PCIe 3.0 x16 vs PCIe 2.0 x16 even if you were to run a GTX 780 Ti.

For SLI, the GPU itself must be identical.

Still no. You have to have 2 identical card for them to work together

Yes; you can and it will work. The PSU, I would change. It's a pretty bad unit, but I think it should be fine. It's definitely a bit close.

Wrong. You do not need identical cards to run one as a dedicated PhysX card.

Not all games support PhysX, and only a very small portion of games do. Most of the time, it's not recommended unless you are working with video editing where you pair a Quadro with a dedicated PhysX for those CUDA cores. For gaming, it's not recommended because most of the time, the extra card will just emit heat and eat up your electric bills.

SLI if possible, but the dedicated PhysX card may actually be a bottleneck, or at the very least be completely useless. It's still possible for @ricky07 to set up GTX 560 Ti as a PhysX card, but it's not going to do much. And the GTX 760 will likely do a better job on its own.

so i guess its better to just stick with the gtx 760 only...is there any other good motherboards within a good budget that will support this card...basically with a single pci slot?... it seems the motherboard (970A DS3P) has crossfire ..

There are plenty of better motherboards. What is your budget?

a tight budget actually...enough for a gpu..a psu..basically the whole CPU itself...so its roughly around 30k (just for the cpu itself)..as for the gpu, i will be buying that later on which means i will be using my gtx 560ti for a while..

with regards to the psu..you said it was a bad unit..how bad??...i currently have a Corsair GS600w...is a corsair vs650w enough to power a gtx 760 or maybe a Radeon R9 270x (ASUS)?

these are my current system upgrades
1. AMD FX 6core edition FX-6300
2.Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9) x 2
3. Cooler Master GX 750w / Corsair VS650w
4. Gigabyte 970A DS3P
5. Cooler Master HAF 912 Combat Transparent Side Panel Mid Tower Cabinet

i will be upgrading my GPU later on and these are my choices
1. ASUS GTX 760 Direct CUII OC 2GB GDDR5
2. Asus AMD/ATI R9 270X Direct CUII 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
