Trying to determine the sweet spot for Ram speed/timings for 4790k?

I read haswell likes faster ram more than timings?

I found a nice priced set of corsair vengeance pro 2400 at Cas 11.

2666 at Cas 12 is about 40 bucks more.

2133 at Cas 9 is about 20 bucks more.

What is the sweet spot for a 4790k? Any recommendations.

Haswell does scale to faster DRAM better than previous CPUs like IB and SB...best I've found for Haswell and Devils Canyon have been the GSkill Tridents in 1866/8, 2133/9 as sweet for gaming, then if you really use your rig (multi-tasking, video, imaging, VMMs, CAD andything with large data sets, might go the 2400/10 or 2666/11 sets

Even though my system is not stable yet, I messed around with my ram a bit.
Similar to you, I'm using a 2400mhz cl11 kit (11-13-13-31-2T XMP), from G.Skill Ares line. I tried 2133 cl9 (9-12-12-30) instead of 2400 cl11, ran PerformanceTest (CPUMark, also checks other stuff) and the results were roughly the same. Had a score of 20 points lower than with 2400 cl11 but that might just be random, wasn't always getting same result with 2400 either.
40 dollars more just for a 2666 kit with slower timings doesn't seem worth to me, 2133 cl9 didn't yield me performance increase. I guess all of those kits are pretty great compared to a standard 1333kit (got about a 15-20% performance increase with setting ram to xmp setting, just a little more unstable sadly, but i'm even getting bsod's with 1333mhz, going to RMA tomorrow I think if i dont get it down this night).
