No internet, ethernet cable plugged in

I have two ethernet ports in my room, and i need to move the computer to the other side of the room, so i need to use the other port.
I have plugged everything in, but cant get internet.

I got this message: local connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration.

Please help

What do you mean by two drops in your room? Are they wall drops or just two free ports on a switch? Are you sure it is not being used for a telco connection? Where does the cable go back to? If it was a data drop then it would have to go back to a patch panel or some sort of drop and then into your router / modem / switch.
