Is it possible to install windows on my desktop onto an SSD and toss it into my macbook pro and use it as the primary boot drive?

No. Windows needs to be installed while the drive lives in the system it will be running in.

I'd give it about a 98-2 against it actually booting up.

I'd make it 99-1, especially when the target is a Mac. Why not just use Boot Camp to install it directly on the Mac?

I've tried everything but I found out that the firmware doesn't support booting from USB even after editting some file I can't remember the name of
But yea unless I'm over looking something I don't think it'll work
