Well using the wifi and bluetooth is up to you. If you have a network cable available for your machine, you wont need wifi then. You don't need to pay more for any other boards. The hero is a beast of it's own. It has all the features decent gaming motherboards needs. Plus it overclocks great and it comes with many bundled softwares too.
Between the Pro and the Hero the only real noticable difference would be the wifi, if you don't need it or wont use it, go for the hero.

I highly recommend ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards, their build quality is outstanding. For bang for buck builds AsRock is a good one too.
But go with ASUS if you have the budget.

Some other good boards for your price range:
GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H (comes with sata-express)
ASUS Z97-PRO (no wifi, but you do get sata-express and m.2 if you're into that)

I have both the Heros (Z87 and Z97), if you can go the Z97...it OCs better (have used 2 4770Ks in both and the Z97 OCs better .1 and .2 on the same voltages over the Z87, handles DRAM better (i.e. on the Z87 my 32GB of 2666 is pretty much that's it, yet I can run it at 2800 on the Z97, the Z97 Hero also runs cooler overall
