I'm running Win 8 and suddenly one day to another my mouse stopped working i thought that my mouse was dead because it was really used so i bought a new one but it didnt work either, i dont get a mouse name under mouse hardware or under device manager, its blank, i really believe you guys could help me, I've tried several solutions from these website and none of em work. If it helps i use Genius wireless mouse 2.4Ghz. Both of them, old and new, different models.

Plug a flash drive into the usb slot where the mouse is plugged into and make sure you can access it, if not then it sounds like the usb slot is dead. If its just a circuit breaker you may be able to get it going again by powering off then disconnecting the ac cord for a few minutes and then replugging everything back in, just understand that this doesnt work on all motherbds.

Have you tried plugging in the mouse to one of the rear usb's?
