Best explanation, I was playing Dark Souls 2 on offline mode, doing video game photography with downsampling tools when my computer turned itself off abruptly, began to make popping (which I didnt notice at first) and sounds as the intake and exhaust fans basically stopped, the monitor going black and then a godawful sound came from below the computer as it abruptly shutted off with distinctive smells of burning after wards (around 5 seconds).
I tried turning it on again but no avail on seeing POST test. I quickly realized that something might have went wrong physically and thus..
...Hesitantly, I unplugged the mains and unplugged the PSU connection and open it after waiting for the voltage to dissipate. I saw no 'black marks' like those of short-out components like spilling liquid on them but I smell a distinctive smell of smoke coming from the fans, the smell dissipated before I could get whiffs of it from the open case but before that I could best describe it with a hint of plasicness in it. I couldn't exactly pinpoint it but I believe it might've been my PSU.
