I spent 5 minutes just coming up with an eye-catching title. I've spent the last couple days doing nothing but looking into my first PC build. Now that I have something definitive, I would like to run it by you all, since you seem nicer than /r/buildapc. I'm looking at building a monster of a gaming computer, as I am also majoring in engineering and will be using an Auto CAD program so that's going to be labor intensive. Here's what I have. Money isn't too much of a problem, but this is about as much as I'm willing to spend, though I haven't yet looked for the best deals because I need approval to even use these components.

Only problem I see is the mediocre power supply. Look into an XFX 550W as a minimum, a good quality power supply. CX500 is designed for budget builds. Also in such a case and with the quality of the other components, a fully modular power supply would be better suited.

May I ask why I shouldn't get an 8 gb ram?

I don't have any qualms about getting 2x4 gb instead, I just want to know why.

because dual Chanel is better than a single channel for example.. if you are planning to buy 16gb ram i would have suggested u to use 4x4 gb instead of a single 16 gb or 2x 8 gb sticks

No difference between 2x8 and 4x4 memory, still dual channel, just consumes more power and is a little less stable when it comes to overclocking. Though he is correct, you would want the dual channel memory. Theoretically this doubles your on demand memory bandwidth. (It doesn't really, but that is a bit of a technical explanation about how it handles individual bits when writing to memory)
